From visionary director Joe Dante comes a suspense thriller that explores the fears and secrets buried deep in the human mind. Life couldn't possibly get worse, or so thought 17 year old Dane and his 10 year old brother Lucas, when their single mother Susan uproots them from New York City to the sleepy little town of Bensonville. For Dane the only exciting thing about their new town is the beautiful girl next door, Julie. With Susan spending more and more time at work, Dane and Lucas are left unattended to explore the depths of their eerie new residence. With Dane paying more attention to Julie, he has far less time and patience for his little brother. But then everything changes when they find a sinister bottomless hole under a locked trap door in the basement. As the brothers experiment with the hole they realize that the cold pit goes on forever. They drop a nail and never hear it hit bottom. They lower a flashlight and a video camera and they get consumed by the darkness. Hoping for some answers about the house's past, Dane and Lucas bring Julie in on their new discovery. When the hole is exposed, evil is unleashed. With strange shadows lurking around every corner and past nightmares coming to life, the trio will have to come face to face their darkest fears to put an end to THE HOLE.

Il me semble l'avoir vu une ou deux fois, mais il m'a pas laissé un incroyable souvenir.
Pas le pire film quand même !

Faudrait que je revoie Sphere : il m'a encore moins marqué !

Pourquoi ne suis-je pas surpris de cette critique de l'ami Manu? au contraire de toi, j'y ai vu un film assez sympathique, ce n'est pas le film de l'année c'est sur, qui est enfaintin mais venant de Joe Dante est-ce réellement surprenant, j'ai beaucoup plus aimé The Hole que Sphère.

The Hole est la version pour enfant du film Sphere... je n'ai aimé ni l'un ni l'autre où le truc mystérieux est le révélateur de nos peurs et nous pousses à aller au-delà de celles-ci... Scénario débile et facile, utiliser les peurs pour faire peur aux spectateurs...

The Hole ist ein ziemlich guter und mehr als gelungener Thriller, den ich eher als Mysterythriller bezeichnen würde. Allerdings spricht er wohl eher das etwas jüngere Publikum an. Was aber nicht heisst, dass es deswegen Punkteabzug geben wird.
Zu Beginn erinnert The Hole phasenweise an Disturbia. Der Film nimmt recht schnell seinen Lauf und nach kurzer Zeit ist klar, um was es geht. Die Story ist ziemlich absehbar und nichts neues, muss es aber auch nicht. The Hole punktet viel mehr im Bereich Effekte und Stimmungen. Der Film fängt als Thriller an und verkommt in der Schlussphase fast schon zu einem Fantasyfilm.
The Hole ist spannend, grusselig, hat tolle Effekte, coole junge Schauspieler und ganz nebenbei ein ziemlich gelungenes DVD-Cover. Vielleicht kann The Hole beim älteren Publikum weniger auftrumphen, dafür bei Neueinsteigern umso mehr!
