Extrêmement mauvais. Seuls les pseudo-intellos l'apprécieront".
Et il y aurait quelque chose de très vrai à cela.
Mais malheureusement... J'ai vraiment aimé ce film !
Ce qui ferait de moi un pseudo-intellos ! !!
En effet, voici : le film commence de manière captivante.
Ensuite, la première demi-heure promet un bon film. Sauf que je n'aime pas la direction que prend le film par la suite. Mais au final, il retombe sur ses pattes. Et j'ai aimé la fin.
Il y a certes un jeu de manipulation. Mais c'est aussi un peu brouillon.
Il y a quelques scènes inutiles et l'aspect religieux n'est pas vraiment poussé.
Il y a encore des questions, probablement sans importance, qui restent sans réponse.
Bref...
Disons qu'il y a un peu de paradoxe.
Je pourrais dire : "Mais dans l'ensemble, je pense que ça tient la route."
Sauf que...
Malheureusement, le réalisateur ne parvient pas à mettre en place une histoire cohérente. Un agent de probation épuisé mentalement et émotionnellement, un condamné rusé et jamais très transparent et une fiancée qui, d'une manière ou d'une autre, n'est pas entièrement convaincue par ses actions. Après des années de désastres cinématographiques qui n'ont jamais été à la hauteur de son talent, le jeu de De Niro est à nouveau séduisant. Pas brillant, mais à nouveau prometteur. Norton (qui choisit ses films et ses rôles avec soin) est également bon. Quant à Jovovich... elle est très bien ! Si elle n'était pas aussi belle, ce qui justifie son statut évident de mannequin, je ne suis pas sûr qu'elle aurait le même impact dans ce film. On se souvient rarement d'un très bon film avec elle. On pense toujours à ses débuts dans Le 5e élément. Mais après cela ? On sait qu'elle a joué dans les six (voire plus !) films Resident Evil.
On oublie souvent qu'elle est aussi une chanteuse incroyable !
D'une certaine manière, le film est en grande partie convaincant. Mais la fin est étrange, abrupte et ne va pas jusqu'au bout. C'est comme si l'équipe de tournage avait été coupée. Elle laisse juste un choc et des pistes de réflexion.
Cela semble paradoxal, mais c'est exactement ce que c'est. C'est dommage, on aurait pu faire plus.
Mais j'ai quand même aimé !
Ceux qui s'attendent à un thriller juridique classique seront certainement déçus.
Ceux qui s'ennuient tout au long du film se souviendront que Milla se déshabille quelques fois et penseront que c'est tout ce que le film a à offrir.

"What on earth is this?
Another film to throw away!
Extremely bad. Only pseudo-intellos will enjoy it".
And there would be something very real about that.
But unfortunately... I really liked this film!
Which would make me a pseudo-intellos !!!
In fact, here goes: the film begins in an absorbing way.
Then the first half hour promises a good film. Except that I don't like the direction the film takes after that. But in the end, it lands on its feet. And I liked the ending.
There's certainly a game of manipulation. But it's also a bit messy.
There are some unnecessary scenes and the religious aspect isn't really pushed.
There are still questions, probably unimportant ones, that remain unanswered.
Anyway...
Let's just say there's some Paradox.
I could say, "But on the whole, I think it holds together."
Except that...
Unfortunately, the director fails to put the story together in a coherent way. A mentally and emotionally exhausted probation officer, a cunning and never very transparent convict and a fiancée who is somehow not entirely convinced by his actions. After years of cinematic disasters that were never worthy of his talent, De Niro's acting is once again seductive. Not brilliant, but once again promising. Norton (who chooses his films and roles very carefully) is also good. As for Jovovich ... she's fine! If she weren't so beautiful, which justifies her obvious status as a model, I'm not sure it would have the same impact in this film. You rarely remember a really good film with her. You always think back to her debut in The 5th Element. But after that? We know she's in all six (maybe more!) Resident Evil films.
We often forget that she's an incredible singer too!
In a way, the film is convincing for the most part. But the ending is strange, abrupt and doesn't go all the way. It's as if the film crew had been cut off. It just leaves you with a bit of a shock and some food for thought.
It sounds paradoxical, but that's exactly what it is. It's a shame, we could have done more.
But I still liked it !
Those expecting a classic legal thriller will certainly be disappointed.
Those who are bored throughout the film will remember that Milla gets naked a few times and will think that's all the film has to offer.

schon wieder ein film für die tonne. extrem schlecht. nur pseudointelligente werden spass daran haben.

Paradox
Leider verpasst es der Regisseur, die Story schlüssig auf den Punkt zu bringen. Ein geistig und emotional ausgelaugter Bewährungshelfer, ein schlitzohriger und nie ganz durchsichtiger Knackie und eine Braut, die irgendwie nicht ganz überzeugt mit ihrem Tun. Das Spiel De Niros ist nach Jahren der filmischen Katastrophen, die seines kalibers nie würdig waren, wieder ansprechend. Nicht brilliant, aber doch wieder viel versprechend. Norton ist ebenfalls gut, Jovovich ... na ja. geht so. Irgendwie überzeugt der Film über weite Strecken. Aber das Ende ist komisch, abrupt, nicht zu Ende erzählt. Klingt paradox, aber genau das ist es auch. Schade, hätte man mehr draus machen können.

Everybody Must Get Stoned
Der psychologische Machtkampf zwischen DeNiro und Norton wird von beiden brillant gespielt. Auch Jovovich überzeugt mich erstmals als Schauspielerin. Ich finde das Drehbuch spannend. Wer hier aber einen klassischen Gerichtsthriller à la 'Zwielicht' oder 'Das Urteil' erwartet, wird sicherlich enttäuscht werden.

Enttäuschung
Der Film ist wirklich eine Enttäuschung. Einmal abgesehen von De Niro und Milla nackig bietet der Thriller viel langeweile. Der Schluss kommt mir eher vor als ob jemand den Geldhahn zugedreht hat. Norton war auch schon besser. Seine Rolle ist mir genau so unklar wie die von Milla oder De Niro.
