A teacher who prides herself on being different meets a student who matches her non-conformist nature in this period drama. It`s 1934, and Miss G is a teacher at a private school for girls near the Eastern coastline of England. While most of the teachers at the school are severe and straight-laced women who reinforce its reputation as a repressive environment, Miss G is more youthful and glamorous than her colleagues, and enjoys dropping hints of a free-spirited past to her young charges. Miss G encourages her students to challenge conventional norms of the day, and organizes a diving team at the school that she oversees with great interest. Miss G also sees a danger in the cliques that dominate the school, and she tries to undermine them, much to the annoyance of Di, who hold a high place in the school`s pecking order. But things change for both Miss G and her students when Fiamma enrolls at the school. Fiamma is from Spain and has a strong independent streak; she doesn`t look to her peers for approval and insists on doing things her own way, which makes her all the more exotic and appealing to the other students. Fiamma also earns the approval of Miss G, but before long rumors begin to spread that the teacher`s interest in her new student is more than academic. CRACKS was the first feature film from director Jordan Scott, whose father is the noted filmmaker Ridley Scott.

Je vais traduire la critique en allemand et la commenter :

«Subtil et sournois !

Une mise en scène pleine d'ambiance, un décor envoûtant et une histoire subtile et sournoise font de ce film une expérience complexe et rondement menée. On pense involontairement à 'Pique-nique à Hanging Rock' ou à 'Le château des horreurs'. En revanche, je mets en doute la liberté de mouvement que la protagoniste peut se permettre dans l'environnement de l'internat protestant. J'ai aussi un bémol pour le jeu d'Eva Green, qui est à mon avis un peu exagéré. Moins aurait été plus.»

C’est marrant de voir les divers points de vues d’une œuvre artistique.
Car je peux ABSOLUMENT comprendre qu’on puisse penser qu’Eva surjoue !
Mais ce la ne m’a pas dérangé le moins du monde, car je la trouve excellente partout, dans chaque interprétation. Et son regard effrayant n’est que plus mis en valeur dans ce film !

Je n’ai pas vu les deux films mentionné.
Pas sûr que je vais les voir, mais effectivement, ils m0intriguent.

Oui, les filles paraissent un peu trop libre pour un internet protestant.
Ou alors c’est nous qui pensons que c’était beaucoup plus strict, alors que peut-être ça ne l’était pas vraiment.
Cela vaut la peine de faire des recherches, je pense.

En fait, je pensais que j’allais m’ennuyer à mort dan ce film. Mais je me suis laissé prendre, j’ai regardé sans problèmes. J’avais l’impression qu’il n’allait rien se passer… mai quand ça se passe… j’ai compris ce qu’est cette innocence perdue à jamais.

La fin est triste… mais il y a un côté correct.
Les bonnes personnes partent… après le drame.

Film que je reverrai sûrement une seconde fois, mais pas parce que je l’aurais oublié cette fois… mais bien parce que parfois j’aime revoir les choses en sachant ce qui va se passer. C’est parfois aussi jouissif que quand on ne sait rien.

Stimmungsvolle Inszenierung, betörende Ausstattung und eine subtile, hinterhältige Geschichte machen aus diesem Streifen ein vielschichtiges, rundes Erlebnis. Unwillkürlich denkt man an 'Picknick at Hanging Rock' oder 'Schloss des Schreckens'. Ich stelle hingegen die gesellschaftliche Freizügigkeit die sich die Protagonistin im Umfeld des protestantischen Internats leisten kann, in Frage. Abzug gibt es denn auch für das - in meinen Augen - etwas übersteigerte Schauspiel von Eva Green. Weniger wäre da mehr gewesen.
