Ich hab diese Box schlussendlich gekauft, meine teuerster DVD-Einkauf ever, und ich kann nur sagen: Es hat sich gelohnt, und wie!
Criterion hat sich hier wirklich selbst übertroffen, grossartige Bonus-Materialien und Texte, die Cassavetes einzigartige Arbeitsweise wirklich anschaulich darstellen.
Zu den Filmen selber gibts eingentlich nicht viel zu sagen, denn jeder, der so viel Geld für fünf Filme ausgibt, weiss wohl, dass jeder Einzelne ein Meisterwerk ist.

Zuerst einmal ein grosses Juhuu, endlich eine Box, die diesem grossen Regisseur gerecht zu werden scheint! Ohne Cassavettes wäre die ganze US-Independentfilmszene heute nicht das, was sie ist. Leider hab ich mich noch nicht wirklich dafür, diese nicht ganz billige Box zu bestellen, da ich nicht heraus finde, was denn da wirklich drin ist. Bisher hab ich nur rausgefunden, welche die five films sind: Shadows / Faces / A Woman Under the Influence / The Killing of a Chinese Bookie / Opening Night. Das ist schon mal sehr gut. Es ist aber die Rede von acht DVDs. Einen Doku, den 200-minütigen "A Constant Forge" (2000) ist anscheinend auch dabei. Und sonst? Weiss jemand mehr? Hat's auch zusätzlich englische Untertiteln?
